In the eastern part of the Allgäu, a region in southern Bavaria stands the world-famous Schloss Neuschwanstein. Embedded in the fantastic mountains of the Alps König Ludwig II realized a fantastic architectural monument of the late 19ths century. Only parts were finished before he died in 1886. Still, he managed to integrate electric light and one of the first telephones in Germany.
